Kyla Winner-Connor, LCSW
SHE/HER
My intention as a therapist is to offer a space of attunement and care in which you feel seen and safe. Within this space we will plan an approach for our work that feels right for you.
One of my responsibilities is to take the time to learn about who you are as a person. This includes joining you in beginning to pay attention to how both your mind and body exist in the world. I’m particularly interested in how past experiences of overwhelm have impacted the way you experience your life now. Our nervous systems often struggle to integrate circumstances that were too much, happened too quickly, or left us without choice. These encounters live on in our bodies and brains in ways that can leave us feeling anxious, disconnected, and unhappy.
My goal is to help you have more choice in how you experience things. With increased awareness, you will learn to integrate tools that allow you to digest and respond in new ways. I’ll help you access compassion for the parts of yourself that you struggle to accept and help you determine if there are parts that need to change. I believe that when we begin to build a healthier relationship with ourselves, we build resilience. It is the skills and insight we develop in this process that help us to face hard things with authenticity and a greater sense of ease. And it is from here that we are able to slow down and be with ourselves and others in ways that are meaningful, connected and joyful.
My integrative approach to therapy works from a trauma-informed, relational framework, pulling from concepts such as attachment theory and current views of neurophysiology. In sessions, I also incorporate skills and modalities such as EMDR, mindfulness, and somatic work.
Please reach out if you’d like to learn more about working together. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
